The Fault Detecting Method for Supporting SLA Fault Metrics of IPTV Service

چکیده

As the technology of internet and multimedia processing is improving, IPTV has emerged as new revenue opportunities to network service providers. Network service providers have to consider both network and multimedia processing factors to guarantee adaptable network service level of IPTV service. In the view of network service customers, it is a good way to require network service providers to present a concise contract when they want to get IPTV service. A Service Level Agreement (SLA) has been an essential factor between network service providers and customers in providing network service with a concise contract to meet customers’ requirement and network service provider’s need. There are three major SLA metrics which are open metrics, fault metrics and network performance metrics to guarantee the level of network service. For guaranteeing level of fault quality in SLA, it is required to collect raw data of fault information to verify the violation of SLA fault metrics with considering the specification of IPTV service. In this paper, we discuss the fault detecting method which collects raw data of fault information from settop boxes to monitor SLA fault quality of IPTV service.
